The Heroine’s Journey through Song. 

 
One Woman and a Goddess is a deeply personal and universal journey told through song — a musical unfolding of transformation, remembrance, and return that is explored in The Heroine’s Journey by Maureen Murdock. Inspired by my own path of healing through music, this live performance weaves together a selection of original songs written over the past 17 years. Each song arrived as a companion during key moments in my life — sacred whispers that helped me navigate pivotal change.
 
Many of the songs were born through my own lived experience of The Heroine’s Journey — a feminine roadmap of transformation that includes separation from the feminine, identification with the masculine, spiritual aridity, descent into the depths to meet the Goddess, awakening, and the sacred return. Each song resonates with a particular stage, offering insight, comfort, and courage to move forward.
 
Songwriting has become a spiritual practice for self-inquiry, healing, and transformation especially into my elder years. These Heart Songs are like soul-maps and musical prayers — each one capturing a stage of my personal evolution and reflecting universal themes we all walk through on the journey back to wholeness.
 
Through this unfolding process, I came to identify as a Song Doula — a name that speaks to the birth-like nature of songwriting, where each piece is intuitively carried and born from the deep waters of emotion, memory, and soul. The songs continue to evolve as I do, and I’m always humbled to hear how they find their way into the hearts of others — becoming companions, mirrors, and medicine on their own journeys of remembrance and return.
Between each piece, I share gentle narration to offer context and meaning, illuminating the stages of The Heroine’s Journey that have inspired this work. What emerges is a sequence of steps — both personal and archetypal — toward reclaiming lost parts of the self and reuniting with the sacred feminine.  
It brings me such joy to share these songs with you, and to witness how they touch, inspire, and nurture others. If you are in a time of transition, questioning, or longing for reconnection, I hope you’ll join us.
